But I really can’t stand wires. Why do all these damn things come with 8 feet of cable coming out of each end of a brick Confused: I had all these cables bundled nicely in one of these, but inevitably I need to add a new device or move a hard drive or something.

I try to pick up some short Ethernet cables when I stop in Fry's or Microcenter; using 6-inch or 1-foot cables cuts down on the clutter immensely.

Yeah, I suggested that. But he's bitching about the power sources. I guess we could probably find shorter ones of those two. It's the price he pays to have ethernet, while I must surf wirelessly.

Depending on how much power each device draws, you might be able to rig up one of those AC chargers with 4 USB ports (e.g. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BWLA8W/) and hack together some power-only USB cables for each device. The downside is you're limited to 500mA draw per device on “standard” USB… hopefully soon they'll be making multiport ones that can draw 1A per port (which you need for iPads and some of the newer smart phones).
