Ivry Gitlis Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso

I love Ivry Gitlis’ version of the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint-SaĆ«ns. The footage is from the Arthur Grumiaux DVD, where it is included as a bonus feature. When I got the disc I skipped right over the Grumiaux and went straight to this track. I think Gitlis’ brilliance is more than apparent in this clip, where his interpretation falls somewhere between pure genius and absolute madness. I particulary enjoy the out of control vibrato and his unique phrasing.
