Phoenix HyperSpace

Phoenix Hyperspace is a lightweight operating system that can bypass Microsoft Windows altogether and access often used programs web browsers and word processors, increasing computer boot times and responsiveness. From Wired.com:

Chipmakers and PC manufacturers have been trying to liberate themselves from lengthy startup times for a while, according to Hobbs, but the experience has been “controlled up in Seattle.” Indeed, Hobbs says Microsoft regards HyperSpace as “outside their sphere of influence,” and is not too happy with Phoenix’s offering, which adds yet another voice to the already loud chorus of voices complaining about operating-system bloat. Chipmakers and PC manufacturers, on the other hand, are thrilled.

Oistrakh Plays Sibelius Violin Concerto
