AMVI Test

The AMVI test aims to measure associative musical visual intelligence. “…creative people subconsciously employ elements of synesthesia every day when attempting to think of things in new ways. This test attempts to measure one’s ability to associate musical phrases with abstract shapes and symbols.”

Firefox 3

Screenshot-Firefox-3

I started using Firefox 3 Beta 5 last week. The new dynamic address bar is great. I just start typing and it quickly searches through my bookmarks and history and offers suggestions that include page descriptions and favicons. The UI is great, as expected, especially the new ability to choose icons from the system theme (I used to have to install an extension to get Tango icons) which finally allows Firefox to have a native feel. The new way of choosing to keep passwords is very user friendly in that it waits until after you have successfully logged into a site before asking if you would like to save the password. Some add-ons are not compatible with version 3 yet, for instance, my can’t-live-without Sage extension won’t install.

Try Firefox 3.

Solitaire

“I did a show once, and the guy who was on before me played a D.J. set using his laptop. To the crowd, it had the appearance that he was deeply engaged in thought — you know, really working those buttons — but I took a peek from backstage, and I saw that he was actually playing solitaire.”St. Vincent

Problems With Evolution

Last night Evolution greeted me with the following error: Evolution Cannot get folder `Inbox': Value too large for defined data type. Apparently my Inbox file had reached the 2gb maximum file size. Evolution would not load my inbox or check for new messages. Since I just wanted to check for new messages and didn’t need to access any old mails, I closed Evolution and then renamed $HOME/.evolution/mail/local/Inbox to Inboxold. Then restarted Evolution. While this solved my immediate problem of not being able to get new messages, it leaves my old inbox file inaccessible. I looked around online and found this solution, but certainly there must be an easier way to access my old inbox file.

WorldWide Telescope

I posted a link to Microsoft’s WorldWide Telescope a few months ago, but I’ll mention it again since I’ve been hearing a lot of people talking about it.
