According to research by psychologists at UC Santa Barbara and the University of British Columbia, exposure to the surrealism in, say, Kafka's "The Country Doctor" or Lynch's "Blue Velvet" enhances the cognitive mechanisms that oversee implicit learning functions.

To Catch a Thief





In Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief (1955) retired cat burglar John Robie (Grant) is the lead suspect in a series of new thefts. To prove his innocence he lays a trap for the copycat crook, meanwhile falling for the daughter of an oil tycoon (Kelly.)

It Happened One Night

In Frank Capra's It Happened One Night (1934) newspaperman Peter Warne (Gable) falls for runaway heiress (Colbert) on a bus trip from Miami to New York. Considered the first screwball comedy, it was the first film to win the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Bringing Up Baby

In Howard Hawks' Bringing Up Baby (1938) paleontologist David Huxley (Cary Grant) gets mixed up with Susan Vance (Katherine Hepburn,) a nutty socialite who leads him into one misadventure after another.
The film also features Skippy, aka Asta as George the terrier.
